RiskSTOP Group takes next step in decarbonisation journey

Glass globe reflecting a green earth rests on vibrant moss, with a blurred green background, evoking a serene, natural mood.

RiskSTOP Group has taken an important step forward in its sustainability journey after receiving its first full emissions report, developed in collaboration with Green Futures Solutions at the University of Exeter.

The report establishes a clear baseline for understanding where emissions occur across the business. By identifying the areas that contribute most to our carbon footprint, the findings will help guide practical decisions about how RiskSTOP Group can decarbonise its operations in a measured and informed way.

The analysis highlights that the majority of the organisation’s emissions sit within Scope 3, which covers indirect emissions linked to the wider value chain. A significant proportion of these emissions relates to purchased goods and services, reflecting the broader reality faced by many organisations whose environmental impact extends beyond their direct operations.

Where we can make the biggest difference

For RiskSTOP Group, the findings provide valuable insight into where meaningful change can happen.

“The report gives us the evidence we need to focus our efforts where they will have the greatest impact,” says Natalie Joyce, Head of Social Responsibility and Sustainability at RiskSTOP Group. “Understanding where emissions sit across the business helps us make better decisions and take practical steps to reduce our carbon impact over time.”

While areas such as energy use and business travel remain important considerations, the report indicates that procurement and supplier relationships will play a key role in the organisation’s decarbonisation journey. This insight will help shape how RiskSTOP Group approaches purchasing decisions and works with partners in the years ahead.

Alongside reducing emissions where possible, the company will also explore credible carbon offsetting options for emissions that cannot be addressed immediately. Offsetting will form part of a broader, balanced strategy, recognising that long-term decarbonisation depends first and foremost on reducing emissions wherever practical.

The work with Green Futures Solutions represents an important milestone in building a more detailed understanding of RiskSTOP Group’s environmental impact. Just as importantly, it provides a foundation for future progress.

Using the insights from the report, RiskSTOP Group will continue to take a measured and practical approach to decarbonisation. The focus will be on learning, improving how decisions are made across the business, and targeting the areas where action can deliver the greatest impact.

As this work develops, RiskSTOP Group will continue to share updates on the progress being made and the lessons learned along the way.
