Students at Portfield School Sixth Form took an important step towards their futures on Thursday 6th March as they tackled mock interviews and fine-tuned their CVs with the support of RiskSTOP Group’s Jo Camp and Abbie Davies.

Organised by Portfield School as part of National Careers Week, the event aimed to equip 6th formers with the practical skills and confidence they need to transition into the workplace.
Real-world experience in a supportive setting
For students on the autism spectrum, the job application process can be challenging. The day provided a safe and structured environment where they could rehearse interview techniques, receive constructive feedback, and refine their CVs with professional guidance.
Reflecting on the experience, Abbie Davis, Neurodiversity Ambassador & Team Leader at RiskSTOP Group, said: “It was great to see each individual’s strengths shine through and to help the students build the skills they need for their future. One of the most inspiring things to hear was that, for many, their greatest achievement wasn’t just about what was on their CVs, but how far they had come in gaining the confidence to take part in these events and communicate with others. That progress is something to be proud of.”
