It’s been an exciting few weeks for Amy Lillington, Team Leader at RebuildCostASSESSMENT.com, who was recently recognised as a finalist for Team Leader of the Year at this year’s Women in Insurance Awards – a national event celebrating excellence and inclusion across the insurance industry.
For anyone who’s worked with Amy, this recognition won’t come as a surprise. Her thoughtful, people-first approach to leadership, combined with the positivity she brings to every challenge, makes her someone who leads with authenticity and heart.
The awards shine a spotlight on inspiring women across the sector, celebrating those who champion inclusion, collaboration and growth. That makes Amy’s nomination all the more fitting, as it arrives just as she joins Natalie Joyce on our People at the Heart podcast to explore how a lifelong passion for theatre has helped shape her leadership style.
In their conversation, Amy shares the many lessons performing arts have taught her – from confidence and adaptability to understanding others.
“Empathy is essential to leadership, especially working with people” says Amy. “So empathy is understanding how someone feels and their thought process. Performing arts teaches this skill through having to put yourself in different characters’ shoes.”
It’s easy to see how those lessons have translated into Amy’s day-to-day work. Her leadership combines creativity with care, and she continues to make a lasting impression on the people around her.

Reflecting on the night of the Women in Insurance Awards, Amy added, “For me, this night was never about me, it was about honouring those who have been there for me all these years.”
We’re proud to celebrate Amy’s achievement and to work alongside someone who brings so much thoughtfulness to everything she does.
