Overview

Risk Consultants must have broad knowledge of industry, industry codes of practice, regulatory requirements and relevant legislation. They are often termed the “eyes and ears of the underwriter”, visiting risks and reporting back on hazards that can lead to claims.

Risk Consultants need to quickly identify and analyse critical details in complex situations and be capable of explaining relevant information clearly and concisely. Risk Consultants must also be able to problem solve on the spot, adapt to change and have the ability to negotiate and gain trust.

Brilliant communication skills are vital, both written and verbal. Candidates should also demonstrate an ability to build and manage relationships with clients.

A great Risk Consultant is highly motivated, enthusiastic and passionate about their role.

"I joined RiskSTOP Group in 2007 as a Risk Management Advisor working at the HQ in Mey House. Due to the knowledge I gained within that role I progressed and became a Risk Consultant in 2012. I love the variety of work I see on a daily basis from historic houses and castles, to motor manufacturers and yacht builders. I have travelled across the UK and I learn new things every day. I feel part of a great team, from my Risk Consultant colleagues to the office team who support us."
